Each year, the world of board gaming grows larger, with hundreds of new games vying for attention. To help navigate this ever-expanding landscape, I've compiled a list of the top board games of 2025, based on the opinions of board game YouTubers across the community. This year marks a significant expansion of the data set: I've analyzed 50 different videos featuring 69 different creators. To put that in perspective, last year I looked at data from just 19 YouTube channels.
The growth has been remarkable. By analyzing their top 10 lists, we've seen a massive jump in variety: this year, creators highlighted 290 unique games, compared to the 156 unique titles we saw in 2024. This showcases the incredible diversity and creativity continuing to flourish in the hobby today.
The rankings were determined by assigning points based on each game's placement in the YouTubers' lists. A #1 rank earns 10 points, a #2 earns 9, and so on. To ensure we capture shared popularity, I've again included a bonus point for every time a game appeared on multiple lists. While I haven't played every game myself, I've done my best to summarize their key features based on what these creators had to say.
