It’s no secret that people like to play games, and I Adrian am no exception. But why?
As cost of living increases, wars happening and many things that are not lost on me happening around the world, why do I turn to play?
If I were to ask Chat GPT on why do we play games it would list the following, many of which you would come up with on your own.
Entertainment and Escapism:
Gaming offers an immersive escape from everyday life.
It provides a ticket to virtual adventures and a break from reality.
Social Interaction and Community:
Modern gaming is a social experience, fostering connections.
Whether teaming up or competing, gaming builds vibrant communities.
Challenge and Achievement:
Overcoming obstacles in gaming brings a unique sense of satisfaction.
Achieving goals, conquering levels, and hitting high scores keep players engaged.
Cognitive Stimulation:
Gaming involves mental gymnastics, sharpening cognitive skills.
Navigating virtual landscapes and solving puzzles provide a brain workout.
Immersive Storytelling:
Games offer more than just graphics; they provide epic, personalized stories.
Players become active participants, shaping the narrative as they play.
Competition and Achievement:
The competitive spirit in gaming drives players to climb ranks and improve.
It’s not just about winning but the journey to personal and competitive greatness.
Creativity and Customization:
Gaming allows for creative expression through world-building and character design.
Players can craft their virtual masterpieces within the digital universe.
All of the above are very important and are reasons why today I see it as more vital then ever, as you can develop relationships, find purpose and escape the burdens of reality all with something that is aimed and desired to foster fun. For me however its a greater purpose, I play because of what I see it brings out in others, one of the hardest things however for someone obsessed with play and trying to fullfill that social need is finding the right game to play. This is why What Can I play mean’s alot to me, as I too am trying to find the right game, and I hope I help someone else find the right game too.
